Sharjah developer Arada has entered Saudi Arabia with a AED 14 billion ($3.8 billion) community of 3,500 villas and townhouses in Al Rimal, in Riyadh's north-eastern growth corridor.

The project is the first for Arada KSA, a new company formed with Saudi property investor Xtopia, whose chairman Mohammed AlDhabaan chairs the new venture. It is modelled on Arada's Masaar forest community in Sharjah.

The community will have a school, shops, a community centre, sports facilities and green spaces. It is funded mainly through a Capital Market Authority-regulated structure managed by Al Rajhi Capital, with some equity from Arada.

02Arada's wider plans

Arada KSA holds about 10 million sq m of land across Riyadh, Jeddah and Makkah, valued at AED 49 billion. The group's pipeline stands at AED 185 billion and more than 70,000 homes across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Australia and Syria, and it has completed 17,000 homes so far.

"We have a good pipeline coming, and we will probably announce another project by the end of the year," said Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Arada's group chief executive.

03What it means if you are buying

Arada keeps building at home. The Saudi venture runs alongside its UAE communities, including Aljada and Masaar in Sharjah, where Aldar has just agreed an AED 1.1 billion purchase of nine buildings.
