What is Al Maryah Island?
Al Maryah Island, formerly Sowwah Island, is Abu Dhabi's central business district, a natural island north-east of Abu Dhabi Island and west of Al Reem Island. It is home to Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial centre, as well as The Galleria, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and the Rosewood and Four Seasons hotels. Aldar and Mubadala announced an expansion of the island's north side in December 2025, including about 3,000 waterfront apartments.
