Ohana Development and Manchester City have broken ground on Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana, the world's first Manchester City-branded residential community, on Yas Canal, Abu Dhabi, on 25 September 2026. The ceremony took place at the project's new Experience Centre on site, with officials from the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC) and City Football Group.
01What has changed for buyers
- Construction has started. The project moves from its launch into building work.
- The Experience Centre is open on Yas Canal, with an audio-visual room on the Manchester City concept and detailed models of the homes and the wider community.
- Launch demand: Ohana reported AED 6 billion of sales within 72 hours of the February 2026 launch, and lists the next villa and townhouse release as coming soon.
02The community
- An AED 15 billion gated waterfront community of more than 2,000 homes on 1.67 million sqm along Yas Canal, with more than 55 per cent given over to green and landscaped space.
- Homes: standalone and twin villas, townhouses, maisonettes, apartments and waterfront penthouses, with completion phased to 2029.
- Sport and wellness amenities planned around the club: a Manchester City training academy, recovery-led wellness facilities, fitness centres, a marina sports club, a canal-front promenade, City Lounge and City Café.
03Why it matters for buyers
A groundbreaking is the first sign that a project is moving from sales into delivery, and the Experience Centre lets buyers see the layouts and the scale of the community in person before the next release opens.
