TARAF, the real estate arm of Yas Holding, and Mubadala Investment Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore a large mixed-use waterfront development on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. The MoU was signed on 30 September 2026 at LIVEX 2026.
01What is planned
- 10 plots on about 655,000 sq ft of land, with roughly 5.4 million sq ft of gross floor area.
- Homes: one to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses, across a series of connected waterfront plots.
- Commercial, retail and dining space in the same masterplan, with shops, restaurants and community amenities at ground level.
- Landscaped walkways, plazas and public spaces linking the homes and offices and opening up access to the waterfront.
Under the MoU, the two parties will assess the plans and take the development forward. TARAF would lead the masterplan, with Mubadala as investment partner.
02Why it matters for buyers
This is an early-stage agreement: there is no project name, price list, payment plan or launch date yet. It is one of the larger new residential pipelines announced for Al Reem Island, a waterfront district close to the centre of Abu Dhabi, and it follows Aldar and Arada's AED 15bn partnership announced the same day. We will add the project when TARAF releases its details.
Until then, see the off-plan projects in Abu Dhabi that are already selling.
